The Chronicles of Chatur Bahadur: Episode 2 - The Third-Grade Hydro Supply

Episode 2: The Third-Grade Hydro Supply

The ink on his hydro rights entry was barely dry when Chatur Bahadur saw his next opportunity.
The government had placed an urgent order for equipment to kickstart a new hydro project.

Chatur’s warehouses, however, brimmed with goods that were… let’s say, not quite top shelf. Old turbines, substandard pipes, and leftover cables. But to a sharp mind like his, third-grade stock could fetch first-grade revenue — if the paperwork was dressed well enough.

The Transaction

Chatur instructed his accountant with his signature smirk:

1
2
Dr. Receivable – Government Hydro Contract 1,000,000
Cr. Revenue – Hydro Supplies 1,000,000

On the invoices, the goods were described as “premium European imports.”
In reality, they were rejects bought at scrap value from a forgotten warehouse in Birgunj.

The Cover Story

Inspection reports were polished, test certificates fabricated, and signatures secured with “hospitality envelopes.”
The government got their delivery, Chatur got his receivable, and the ledgers sparkled with neatness.

The Aftermath

Weeks later, the payment cleared without a single question.
Competitors fumed, but in the ledgers, it was simply good business.

Chatur leaned back, puffed a cigar, and muttered to himself:

“Water may flow downstream, but my revenue always flows uphill.”
